Ladies' Special, a musical potpourri dedicated to International Women’s Day! Piazzolla, ABBA & Bach

Celebrate International Women’s Day, or March 8th, with music at the new concert in the Kálnoky Castle Concerts series. It will be an impressive musical experience in the cellar of the Renaissance castle, where art and the “feminine spirit” will be romantically celebrated through symphonic instrument music, the warm glow of candles, gourmet food, and selected wines!

A charming mix of classical works and light music melodies will create a dreamy atmosphere, enriched by the warmth of the fireplace and the fantastic setting created by the fountain in the castle cellar, along with other elements that give the Kálnoky Castle at Micloșoara its uniqueness.

Celebrated on March 8th, International Women’s Day has its roots in historical events and social movements that advocated for women’s rights. It serves as a reminder of the progress women have made throughout history, as well as the ongoing challenges that still need to be overcome. It is also a unique occasion to celebrate women, and what better way to do so than through music?!

The "Ladies’ Special" concert in the Kálnoky Castle Concerts series invites the audience on a unique journey, where strength, sensitivity, and creativity of women are found in every song, blending classical and modern genres, with music and feminine arts shining in a new light!

The chords of film music composers like Ennio Morricone, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Henry Mancini will intertwine with the classics of Bach, Giovanni Bottesini, and Astor Piazzola, then return to contemporary music with famous tunes from ABBA, The Beatles, and Ed Sheeran in an unprecedented musical potpourri!

"As musical director and pianist, Kálnoky Castle Concerts represents a truly special initiative, offering a unique musical experience that blends the grandeur of classical music, the emotional atmosphere of film scores, and the impact of light music. This diverse musical universe brings challenges and joys at every step.

The refined harmonies of classical works and the dynamic, movement-filled sounds of film music are closely tied to the emotional world of listeners, while the elements of light music bring a fresh breath and create a modern yet timeless atmosphere. Music can be experienced in the balance of emotions that touch the soul and refined sounds, with each performance shining in a new light," says artist Szőcs Botond, who will be accompanied on violin by Csába Gaspár.

Each concert in the Kálnoky Castle Concerts series offers two options: a prosecco concert at 4:00 PM or a concert with dinner at 7:00 PM. Seats are limited and require prior reservation. Tickets can be purchased on Eventim.

Accommodation is available at the Kálnoky Count’s Guest Houses or even in the castle itself, and guests can enjoy a special relaxation program, which may include various nature activities, horse-drawn carriage rides, hot tubs, or traditional crafts from the Covasna area.
